~It's Chippy, It's White and it was for FREE!!~

Well .....I had to do a Tuesday post on this sucker..... It was FREE Tuesday!!! I have eyeballed this sucker for weeks on my way home from the Sleepy Poet. Just sitting there on the front porch of an abandoned house. I even stopped a time or two for a peek, got bit up by bugs each time... but today there was a truck, I about wrecked my car to get off the road to ask... I was pointed in the direction of the people who owned the property.... knocked.... asked and received for FREE!! I was waiting in the drive for hubby tonight... of course he did not get in until late... always works that way... I just prayed the whole way there that someone did not beat me back to it!! We just got back with it. It is missing a door but I think I can make it work. I think an old Cream water bowl and pitcher would look fabulous sitting in the open space below... With or without door is fine with me!!

Beautiful Chippy White Paint.... I am in love all over again!! Yes we looked trashy with it hanging out the rear of my Murrano.... the hatch flapping in the breeze...the darn thing is so tall it just would not fit! But we got it to the house safe and sound.

Well I am off to bed, I have had all the excitement for the night that I can handle... I bet I dream about the darn Beautiful thing!! I did survive the second booth move in....I will have pics of it soon..... I am headed back out of town this weekend to my new junk spot in search of a few treasures to fill it the rest of the way up!! Hugs and Blessings, Janna

Aren't freebies the best?! Now I know that we would be in big trouble if we lived close to each other. That is something I would totally do. If that cabinet was mine, I would take off the one door on the bottom and hang a cute linen curtain there or just leave it open. Just a thought. Great score!

Hugs,

Lisa

Nice cabinet! I agree with Irene, you could take the other door off and leave it as an open shelf...You could line the back wall and shelves with old sheet music or vintage newspaper. It's your baby, and it was free? What the?? Lucky you!

Wonderful find! I would have paid good money for it and you got it free! I'd leave the odd door on and stack colorful quilts on the open side. The one door adds to its history! Beautiful!

Hi Janna,
Love the old cupboard... I have a major problem, when it come to Old Cupboards...{ not to mention, quilts, clocks, ironstone, gnarly concrete, architectural fragments...I am a sick woman!} But cupboards have always been my first love...They truly have a soul to them... You might ask the folks who gave it to you, if you, or they could scout around, for the door... I have a friend who might have a pair, that would work. He has several straight front china cupboards, and parts.
If not, it is very beautiful, as found...

Oh WOW -- that is almost a twin to one I have. Mine has 2 drawers instead of the 1 and it has punched tin panels on the doors and sides of the top part. Ours is very old and chippy, original white paint as well. It was "born" somewhere in the midwest as it came here from Cedar Falls, Iowa area when my mother in law moved here as a young girl.

I love FREE ! What a great find. I say just ask. The worst someone can say is NO. :)
